The plan is usually the easy part, the hard part is everything that happens when the plan meets your actual nervous system, your actual habits, and all the ways life does not care how clear your intentions were. I really like how this strips away the fantasy that clarity alone is enough, because honestly, that’s where a lot of people get stuck, mistaking insight for movement. There’s something uncomfortable but useful in admitting that follow-through is not just discipline, it’s emotional friction, resistance, and the weird grief of not being the person you thought you would be by now. This feels real, not aspirational in a fake way, and that matters.

I especially love your distinction between insight and movement. That gap is exactly where the real work begins.

And your point about the grief of not being the person we thought we’d be… I hadn’t framed it that way before, but I think you’re right. There is often a quiet letting go alongside the building.
